Why do companies block some callers?
There are several reasons why a business may want to block a specific phone number on its answering service account. Blocking a number can help businesses maintain better control over their incoming calls and enhance their overall customer service. Here are a few common scenarios where blocking a number may be necessary:
- Unwanted or Harassing Calls: Businesses may receive persistent calls from telemarketers, spammers, or individuals engaging in harassment. Blocking these numbers helps prevent disruptions and protects the business's time and resources.
- Inappropriate or Abusive Callers: Occasionally, businesses may encounter callers who engage in inappropriate or abusive behavior. Blocking their numbers ensures a safer and more comfortable environment for the business and its employees.
- Nuisance Calls: Some calls may be categorized as nuisance calls, such as wrong numbers, automated messages, or frequent hang-ups. Blocking these numbers helps streamline operations by eliminating unnecessary distractions.
- Competitor Interference: In certain cases, businesses may experience unwanted interference from competitors attempting to gather sensitive information or disrupt their operations. Blocking their numbers safeguards the business's privacy and maintains a competitive advantage.
How do I block a number with Answer Aide so that we don't receive any more calls from someone?
We may be able to assist with blocking a number depending on how your account is set up. Please remember that even if we block a particular number, they can still call back from another number, so it may not completely stop them from calling. Below are two ways you can block a number:
- The preferred method is that you block the number through your phone provider so that the call never forwards to Answer Aide. Most carriers will allow you to block numbers.
- If you are unable to block the number with your phone carrier, please open a ticket with us, and we can block the number for you.
